Import Subscribers

Already have an email list? Bring it into MailJawn with a CSV upload. If you're starting fresh and collecting subscribers through the SDK, you can skip to Send Your First Campaign.

Prepare Your CSV

Your CSV file needs at minimum an email column. You can also include name and subscribed_at:

email,name
alice@example.com,Alice Chen
bob@example.com,Bob Marquez
carol@example.com,Carol Davis

Tip

Migrating from Sendy? MailJawn auto-detects Sendy's CSV format (with Email, Name, Optin Time, and Status columns) and maps statuses automatically.

Upload

  1. Navigate to your app's Subscribers section.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Select a provider:
    • Generic CSV — for most cases
    • Sendy — if exporting from Sendy
  4. Choose your CSV file and click Upload.

Review Results

After the import completes, you'll see a summary of how many subscribers were:

  • Created — new email addresses added
  • Updated — existing subscribers matched and refreshed
  • Skipped — rows with missing or invalid emails

Warning

The import processes your file in the background. Large lists may take a moment to finish.

Automations

By default, imported subscribers are treated as existing contacts. If you want newly imported subscribers to trigger your welcome automation, check the "Treat as new subscribers" option before uploading.

For more details on CSV columns and provider mappings, see CSV Import.
