Deliverability

Deliverability is about getting your emails into inboxes — not spam folders. MailJawn handles much of this automatically, but a few things need your attention.

What MailJawn Handles Automatically

  • Hard bounce suppression — When an email permanently fails to deliver, MailJawn stops sending to that address across all your projects. No action needed.
  • Complaint suppression — When a subscriber marks your email as spam, they're permanently removed from all sending. This protects your reputation.
  • One-click unsubscribe — Every campaign includes List-Unsubscribe headers so email clients like Gmail and Apple Mail can show a native unsubscribe button.
  • Unsubscribe link — Your emails include an unsubscribe URL that MailJawn tracks and processes immediately.
  • Suppression list enforcement — Before every send, MailJawn checks the organization-wide suppression list and skips any suppressed addresses.
  • Deliverability health monitoring — MailJawn tracks your bounce and complaint rates and flags potential problems.

What You Need to Configure

  • Custom sending domain — Set up DKIM, SPF, and DMARC so emails come from your domain instead of MailJawn's. This is the single biggest thing you can do for inbox placement.
  • Mailing address — CAN-SPAM requires a physical mailing address in every email. Set this in your organization settings.
  • Sending habits — Send to people who opted in, at a consistent frequency, with relevant content. No technical setup replaces good practices.

Deliverability Health Dashboard

MailJawn monitors your bounce and complaint rates over a rolling 30-day window and assigns a health status:

Status What It Means
Healthy Rates are within safe thresholds — no action needed
Warning Rates are elevated — monitor closely
Review Rates are concerning — investigate and clean your list
Paused Rates are dangerously high — sending may be restricted

Your overall health is determined by whichever rate is worse (bounce or complaint). See Bounces & Suppression for the exact thresholds.
